FAQs

How did you decide to become a counselor?

After working as a teacher for many years, I went through a challenging period when anxiety, depression, and marital distress led me to take a serious look at my life and realize I needed to make some changes. My partner and I decided to try couples counseling, which was a transformative experience. It felt like, for the first time, I was looking at my life and my relationships with others with eyes wide open.Therapy has been a life changing journey for me. It led me to discover the importance of authenticity, vulnerability, and meaningful connection with others. It also gave me the confidence to realize that I could be successful as a therapist and facilitate others’ journeys of personal growth.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time. I am considered an out-of-network provider. I can provide you with what is known as a superbill that you can file with your insurance company. I recommend that you call ahead to see if they provide coverage for out-of-network providers.

Do you offer a consultation?

Yes. I offer a free thirty-minute consultation that we can do by video, phone, or in-person. I think it is important for you to get to know me, have a basic understanding of what our work together could look like, and ask any questions you might have to see if we will be a good fit.

What are your fees?

I offer 50-minute counseling appointments for $160 per session. I have a few sliding scale spots available that are based on need.

How long does therapy last?

That depends on the individual or the couple, as well as the issues that we are working on in therapy. If an individual comes in experiencing severe anxiety or a couple comes in after experiencing a betrayal, it could take several months to help them out of that crisis. Lots of times it is after safety has been reestablished that the real change can occur.
